Paraguay's Central Bank raises its 2026 growth forecast to 5%

The Central Bank of Paraguay lifted its growth estimate from 4.5% to 5% and lowered its inflation forecast to 3%. It kept construction growth at 3.5%.

The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) released its September Monetary Policy Report with a 5% economic growth forecast for 2026, half a point above its June estimate. According to the report, the upgrade reflects services and power generation, driven by higher output at the binational dams; on the spending side, net exports and consumption.

The report also trims the inflation forecast for this year from 3.3% to 3%, below the 3.5% target, while flagging the impact of higher oil prices. Construction keeps a 3.5% growth forecast, while investment in machinery, equipment and other productive assets is revised down from 2.2% to 1.3%.

What it means for investors

Steady growth with contained inflation is part of the backdrop long-term investors look for: it supports demand for services, offices and housing in the cities where activity is concentrated. These are forecasts, not results, and they may change in the next report.

If you buy in U.S. dollars, the exchange rate matters too. Local business press reports a weaker dollar against the guaraní and price adjustments on off-plan projects, which narrows part of the advantage of buying now. Before deciding, it is worth comparing scenarios at the current exchange rate and the total cost of the transaction.
